Bishkek, Jan. 16, 2019. /Kabar/. Child Protection Department is planned to be established in Kyrgyzstan, Vice Prime Minister Altynay Omurbekova told at a conference on interaction in implementation of policies and government programs: expectations and prospects in Bishkek.
She said that today the family institution is experiencing a profound crisis, the society is disturbed by the news about the unthinkable facts of child abuse, and people absolutely rightly raise questions about strengthening the protection measures for our children.
She noted that a number of measures had been taken by the government – the work of district headquarters to prevent abuse and violence against children was resumed – they were personally led by city mayors and akims. “They are tasked to carry out active work with law enforcement agencies, social institutions and the public. Started household walk-round check to form a database of children who are brought up in the absence of parents. Often it is they who are subjected to violence,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
Omurbekova said that Prime Minister Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziyev also instructed to work out the creation of the Child Protection Department under the Ministry of Labor and Social Development, as the body in charge of implementing the policy on child protection. A Social Work Service for the Protection of Children will also be created.
“But the efforts and resources of state bodies in this issue are not enough. The issue of child protection concerns each of us without exception. Therefore, I want to again appeal to all citizens: we must be more vigilant towards the people around us, neighbors, children who attend schools and kindergartens with your children. And we must respond immediately at the first warning signs. We have no right to be indifferent and close our eyes to what is happening. Only by joint efforts will we be able to fight this terrible tendency, save our children from injury and save their lives,” the Vice Prime Minister said.
