China to provide food and grant aid to Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, May 31, 2021. / Kabar /. Earlier, following the results of bilateral Kyrgyz-Chinese negotiations in Xi'an, a decision was made by the Chinese leadership to provide Kyrgyzstan with food and grant aid, the presidential administration of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

Thus, the Chinese side decided to provide food aid: 40 thousand tons of flour, 20 thousand tons of sugar, 20 thousand tons of vegetable oil and as a grant 350 million yuan (about USD 54 million), which are planned to be allocated for the implementation of infrastructure projects in the country.

In addition, within the framework of the negotiations, a decision was made to provide Kyrgyzstan with a second batch of Chinese vaccine in the amount of 150 thousand doses as humanitarian aid on a gratuitous basis.

At the same time, it was decided not to charge additional payments for deferring payments on the state external debt of Kyrgyzstan to China, and also to send Chinese specialists involved in the implementation of grant projects to the Kyrgyz Republic, which were temporarily suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Kyrgyz side expresses its gratitude to China for the support provided by the country's leadership. The Kyrgyz Republic is interested in the dynamic development of bilateral relations and the strengthening of strategic partnership for the benefit of the interests of the two countries and peoples.
