China will provide Kyrgyzstan another grant for military equipment

Bishkek, Sept. 6, 2018 / Kabar /. China will provide the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan a grant for the purchase of weapons and military equipment. The amount of the aid is not named.

A military delegation led by Deputy Chairman of the Central Military Council of China Xu Qiliang arrived in Kyrgyzstan On Sept. 6.

Head of the General Staff of the Supreme Council of the Kyrgyz Republic, Raimberdi Duishenbiev met with the distinguished guest and members of the delegation. "The level of Kyrgyz-Chinese relations has always been very high. We will strengthen the bonds of good-neighborliness, friendship and cooperation for the benefit of the peoples of our countries and for security in the region and the world as a whole," Duishenbiev said welcoming the guests.

The chief of the General Staff noted that Kyrgyz-Chinese cooperation is actively developing both on a bilateral basis and in the format of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. During the years of cooperation the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan received assistance from the Chinese side in the form of weapons, military and special equipment, material and technical equipment, communications and air defense equipment, construction of residential buildings.

During the meeting, the sides considered a list of issues related to the deepening of bilateral military and technical cooperation and discussed prospects for further joint work.

As a result of the meeting, a memorandum of cooperation was signed between the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Defense of the People’s Republic of China, the Agreement on granting the grant, and the Protocol on the supply of arms and military equipment.

After the meeting, the Chinese guests visited the military unit located in the village of Koy-Tash, where an excursion through the territory of the unit was organized for them and got acquainted with the history of the oldest military unit of the Kyrgyz Republic. Also, the delegation plans to visit the military unit in Balykchy.
