Bishkek, Oct. 31, 2023 / Kabar /. Nansha Port area, as the promising part of the Guangzhou Port, is located in the center of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area. It connects to rivers and seas and extending its services to every corner of the earth.
Nansha is one of the key cargo ports in China and one of the busiest seaports in the world. It is one of the top 7 ports in the world with a cargo turnover of more than 14 million containers. Can accommodate more than 200 vessels simultaneously.
The Port of Nansha has begun operations of its fully automated terminal since 2022, the first of its kind in the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macau Greater Bay Area.
As a new-generation smart port, Nansha Port has the most advanced functions of smart ports in the world, including 5G technology applications, advanced data centers, automated handling equipment, smart equipment control systems, and intelligent guided vehicles, smart vehicle dispatching systems, smart gates, smart tally, personnel positioning management systems, advanced information system platforms and share-based ship power supply.
Thus, the Intelligent control covers the entire production process at the terminal.
Nansha Port built container terminals in four phases, handling over 18 million twenty-foot equivalent units in 2022. The automated container terminal, Nansha Port's Phase IV Project has a designed handling capacity of 4.9 million TEUs a year.
After the completion of Nansha Port Phase IV Project, the annual container throughput of the Nansha Port Area is expected to exceed 24 million TEUs, coming out top among global individual port areas. By then, the container capacity layout of Nansha Port Area will be more complete, and the advantages of large -scale transportation resulting from the improvement of the overall capacity will be highlighted and it will become a major sea channel for the Pan-Pearl River Delta economic hinterland to fully participate in implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Nansha Port has currently opened more than 130 routes along the BRI countries. The number of BRI routes has increased by more than 10 every year since 2016.
The new automated terminal is supposed to help enhance the function of the international comprehensive transportation hub and provide strong support for Nansha to build itself into a major strategic high-level shipping and logistics platform in the Greater Bay Area, in coordination with Hong Kong and Macao.
