Bishkek, Feb. 1, 2022. / Kabar /. A group of researchers from Russia and China found in the long-legged springweed growing in Kyrgyzstan, a set of several molecules that have very powerful antioxidant and antitumor properties. Article published in the journal IJMS, according to gamingdeputy.

“Unlike other groups of compounds that are often found in the plant world and are quite well studied, chromones and coumarins are of limited distribution and are of interest for pharmacology,” says Andrey Ernst, senior researcher at Tomsk State University. His words lead TASS with reference to the press service of the RNF.

The expert pointed out that coumarins from the long-legged springweed show antioxidant and antitumor activity.

Russian scientists are trying to find cures for cancer in plant compounds. So, it was found that the substances in milkweed can be used to fight the most aggressive forms of rectal cancer. Anti-cancer components were also found in meadowsweet and fir, parsley and dill.

Several anti-cancer molecules have been found in the leaves of the long-legged springweed (Eranthis longistipitata). This flowering plant grows in the steppes of Kyrgyzstan and belongs to the buttercup family.

Previously, researchers found that Pacific red algae contain carrageenan sugars, which can bind to particles of the human immunodeficiency virus and prevent it from entering immune cells.
