Bishkek, March 24, 2023. / Kabar /. Today in Bishkek, Nurlan Sadykov, General Director of Chakan HPP OJSC, and Zheng Hansong, Vice President of China National Heavy Machinery Corporation, signed a contract for the construction of the Orto-Tokoi small hydropower plant.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Kyrgyz Republic, the meeting was also attended by head of the department Taalaibek Ibraev and Minister of Economy and Commerce Daniyar Amangeldiev.
Construction of a small Orto-Tokoi HPP with three hydroelectric units with a total capacity of 21 MW will make it possible to rationally use the country's water resources. The hydroelectric power plant will be built on the pool of the reservoir of the same name, the Ministry of Energy said.
The Orto-Tokoi reservoir is the first reservoir in Kyrgyzstan, which is intended for seasonal regulation of the flow of the Chu River and irrigation of 120,000 hectares of land. The operation of the small Orto-Tokoi HPP will be regulated in accordance with the irrigation regime of the reservoir.
