Bishkek, Sept. 17, 2023. /Kabar/. 150 Kyrgyzstanis have already successfully undergone free cataract surgery at the National Hospital in Bishkek, and the same number of patients are planned to undergo surgery by September 26, chief physician of the National Hospital Bakyt Tologonov told.
On September 16, 2023, Deputy Minister of Health Bakyt Dzhangaziev, Chinese Ambassador to the Kyrgyz Republic Du Dewen, Deputy Chairman of the SCO Chinese Committee on Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation Cui Li visited the National Hospital under the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, where since September 12 a group of Chinese specialists performs free ophthalmological surgeries for Kyrgyzstanis.
Deputy Minister of Health Bakyt Dzhangaziev expressed gratitude to the Chinese government for its contribution to the healthcare system of the Kyrgyz Republic. “We are confident in the successful implementation of the Health Express project and other future initiatives,” he said.
Chinese specialists will perform free cataract operations for 600 Kyrgyzstanis from September 12 to 28. 300 operations in Bishkek and another 300 operations are planned in Osh from September 17 to 29. In addition, Chinese specialists will donate free medical equipment to the eye microsurgery departments of the above-mentioned hospitals.
