Chinese Embassy hands over PPE to Kyrgyzstan's border guards

Bishkek, Apr. 24, 2020. /Kabar/. The Embassy of China in Kyrgyzstan assisted the State Border Service (SBS) of the republic in combating the spread of coronavirus infection by providing military personnel with personal protective equipment (PPE), the press service of SBS said.

During a meeting, Chairman of the State Border Service of Kyrgyzstan Ularbek Sharsheyev and Chinese Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan Du Dewen noted the need to consolidate the efforts of the two states sharing common border in the fight against COVID-19.

Chairman Sharsheyev stressed that in connection with the global coronavirus pandemic, the range of tasks faced by servicemen of the Border Service of the republic has expanded, and the medical masks, protective suits, special goggles and infrared clinical thermometers provided by the Chinese side will help to preserve the health of personnel engaged in protecting the state border.

Personal protective equipment transferred by the Chinese side has been sent to border guard units.

As of Apr. 24, 25 new cases of COVID-19 have been revealed in Kyrgyzstan, bringing the total to 656, including 172 cases among medical personnel.

322 citizens have recovered and been discharged from hospitals, 8 have died.
