Bishkek, Feb. 13, 2019. /Kabar/. On February 14-16, 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov will pay a working visit to Germany (German Federal State of Bavaria, Munich) to attend the 53rd Munich Security Conference, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan reported.
The visit will include bilateral meetings of the minister with foreign ministers of several countries.
For the purposes of expaning cooperation of the Kyrgyz Republic with the German Federal State of Bavaria, which is one of Germany’s largest and most economically developed lands, Aidarbekov will have meetings with the leadership of ministries and departments of Bavaria in the Land Parliament of Bavaria, as well as with representatives of Bavarian companies and economic associations.
The Munich Security Conference was established in 1962. The convenor and leader of the Munich Conference until 1998 was Ewald-Heinrich von Kleist, a famous German military historian and journalist. The conference is held annually in February in the building of the ancient hotel “Bayerischer Hof” (Bavarian Court), Munich, the capital of the Federal Land of Bavaria (Germany).
Since 2008, the conference has been led by experienced German politician and diplomat Ambassador Wolfgang Ischinger. During the conference, current security issues are discussed. Given the changes taking place in world politics, the theme of the conference and the list of its participants are expanding every year. Every year, more than 600 representatives from various countries take part in the conference, including heads of state and government, ministers of foreign affairs and defense, representatives of various organizations and institutions, as well as business circles.
