Bishkek, Nov.20, 2019. /Kabar/. Within the framework of visit to Paris, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Chingiz Aidarbekov visited the headquarters of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, OECD.
Chingiz Aidarbekov met with Director of OECD Global Relations Andreas Schaal, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Kyrgyzstan said.
FM Aidarbekov told about economic and political reforms and transformations in the country. He noted the ratification of the Paris Climate Convention, the program of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to achieve the SDGs.
He also said Kyrgyzstan has adopted a program for the development of green economy, in connection with which he urged the organization to participate in its implementation.
The foreign minister informed about the first European Union-Central Asia Economic Forum, planned in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2020, in connection with which he proposed the OECD to take an active part in its holding.
The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) is an intergovernmental economic organisation with 36 member countries, founded in 1961 to stimulate economic progress and world trade.
It is a forum of countries describing themselves as committed to democracy and the market economy, providing a platform to compare policy experiences, seek answers to common problems, identify good practices and coordinate domestic and international policies of its members.
Most OECD members are high-income economies with a very high Human Development Index (HDI) and are regarded as developed countries.
