Bishkek, Aug. 15, 2024 /Kabar/. Cholpon-Ata is hosting the Regional Forum - meeting of heads of emergency departments of Central Asian countries.
The Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic said that it is attended by a delegation of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan headed by Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan Chingis Arinov, as well as a delegation of Tajikistan with Minister Latifzoda Hotamsho Latif, Minister of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan Abdulla Kuldashev and representatives of UN agencies.
The event is held to discuss issues and coordinate actions to strengthen regional cooperation in disaster risk reduction and emergency situations and the implementation of the Sendai Program for DRR in Central Asia.
At the opening of the forum, the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic Boobek Azhikeev noted the importance of this event for constructive dialogue, exchange of information and experience.
"Central Asia remains a vulnerable region, constantly exposed to natural disasters, from earthquakes to landslides and floods," he added.
Azhikeev also emphasized the importance of further cooperation between agencies aimed at strengthening efforts to protect the population and territory from natural and man-made emergencies.
