According to UNESCO, Chyngyz Aitmatov is one of the most widely read authors of our time, Parliament Speaker Dastanbek Dzhumabekov told during the scientific-practical conference in the Jogorku Kenesh (Kyrgyz Parliament), dedicated to the 90th anniversary of great writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
He said that today's event is one of the most significant, since Aitmatov was not only a great writer, but also a public and political figure.
“Chyngyz Aitmatov, being a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR, raised social and economic issues behind the podium. After the Kyrgyz Republic had gained its independence, Chyngyz Torokulovich worked in the diplomatic sphere for a long time and made great contribution to the promotion of our country in the international arena. The writer is also the originator of the Issyk-Kul Forum, where global issues concerning the development of mankind were discussed,” Dzhumabekov noted.
Speaker Dzhumabekov also reminded that “Aitmatov is the people's writer of the Kyrgyz Republic”.
“According to UNESCO, Aitmatov is one of the most widely read authors of our time. His works have been translated into more than 176 languages and published in 128 countries of the world with a circulation of more than 100 million copies. The works of Aitmatov were included in the programs of schools and institutions of higher education in many countries of the world,” the Speaker emphasized.
Dzhumabekov also noted that on the eve he participated the day before in laying the capsule in the construction of Chyngyz Ordo cultural complex in Sheker village of, Kara-Buurinsky district, Talas oblast.
Deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh, scientific and public figures take part in the scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the great writer Chingiz Aitmatov.
