Citizens with multiple citizenships cannot hold high positions in Kyrgyzstan: Constitutional Counsel

Bishkek, Jan. 26, 2021. /Kabar/. Citizens with more than one citizenship cannot hold high political office. Members of the Constitutional Counsel poropsed to leave this article in the draft of the new Constitution.

At a meeting on Tuesday, opinions were divided on whether Article 39 should be left or removed.

Noting the need to leave this article, head of the Human and Civil Rights and Freedoms section Nurlan Sheripov proposed to support the decision of the section.

Members of the Constitutional Counsel accept and defer this or that article by a show of hands. By majority decision this article was left.
