Climber from Poland dies at Lenin Peak in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, July 8, 2021. / Kabar /. A climber from Poland died while descending from Lenin Peak in Chon-Alai region, the press service of the Osh Oblast’s Internal Affairs Directorate told Kabar Agency.

According to the police, on July 7 at about 07:15 at an altitude of 5100 meters, a Polish citizen, Peter Bernhard, born in 1971, had hard problem and died.

On July 2, a group of tourists in the amount of 14 people arrived at the base camp, including 12 citizens of Russia, 2 citizens of Poland. For two days they were in the base camp. Further, as reported, on July 4, they ascended to an altitude of 4400 meters and stayed there for 24 hours.

On July 6, the climbers were at an altitude of 4800 meters, on July 7 - at an altitude of 5100 meters. When they started to descend, P.B. walked in front of the group and, losing consciousness, fell to the ground. He was given artificial respiration, but the man never regained consciousness.

A forensic medical examination was appointed. The body of a Polish citizen was delivered to the Osh Regional Bureau of Forensic Medicine.
