Bishkek, Dec.10, 2024. /Kabar/. In Kyrgyzstan, the rules of compulsory motor third party liability (CMTPL) will come into force from Jan. 1, 2025.

In this regard, individuals are obliged to insure their vehicles before this deadline.

On the other hand, the requirements for owners or drivers of vehicles owned or possessed by legal entities, including state bodies, as well as those registered in other countries, entered into force on April 1, 2023.

Compulsory Motor Third Party Liability (CMTPL) helps a citizen to cover damage caused to third parties in the event of a road accident.

“Fines are provided for those who have not insured the car in a mandatory manner,” Azat Kendirbaev, the Deputy Head of the Insurance and Reinsurance Department of the State Insurance Organization OJSC told Kabar News Agency.

Having received a policy of compulsory civil liability insurance for his car, a citizen can protect himself from serious problems in case of road accident. The insurance company will indemnify the third party whose car has suffered and incurred material losses. If the same thing happened in reverse and you became a victim, the insurance company of the guilty party will have to pay the losses incurred by you under the insurance.

A contract on compulsory civil liability insurance for one's car between the owner of a vehicle and an insurance company can be concluded for a period from 5 to 365 days.

There are 16 insurance companies in Kyrgyzstan, of which 15 companies can sell compulsory civil liability insurance policies for a car.
