Co-Chairs of Russian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission meet in Moscow

Bishkek, Nov. 14, 2020. /Kabar/. A meeting of Co-Chairmen of the Russian-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Humanitarian Cooperation – Kyrgyzstan’s First Deputy Prime Minister Artem Novikov and Deputy Prime Minister of Russsia Alexei Overchuk was held in Moscow.

During the meeting, the sides discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the press service of the Kyrgyz Government reported.

Artem Novikov noted stabilization of the political situation in Kyrgyzstan and return of political processes to the legal field, adding that early presidential elections of the republic are scheduled for Jan. 10, 2021.

A full commitment of the Kyrgyz Republic to all its international obligations and strict implementation of all previously signed bilateral and multilateral international treaties was stressed.

As a result of the meeting, an Intergovernmental Agreement was signed on providing gratuitous technical assistance to the Kyrgyz Republic for the development and modernization of the tax administration system of Kyrgyzstan, taking into account the experience of the Federal Tax Service of Russia.

This technical assistance will allow the Kyrgyz Tax Service to switch to a new transparent method of tax administration within two years, eradicate corrupt practices and fully implement the service model of taxpayers' service through advanced digital technologies.

The co-chairmen of the Intergovernmental Commission also agreed to prepare and sign within a month a plan of joint actions to increase bilateral trade turnover between the countries.

The Kyrgyz side asked to consider the possibility of increasing the number of regular air services in compliance with all sanitary and epidemiological norms and requirements. This issue will be considered as the epidemiological situation in the countries stabilizes.

At the end of the meeting, Deputy PMs Novikov and Overchuk reaffirmed their desire to further strengthen and intensify political, economic and cultural and humanitarian contacts in the spirit of strategic alliance.
