Bishkek, Jan. 23, 2018 / Kabar /. The Department of Cinematography of Kyrgyzstan has announced a competition for the best film script and for feature film maker on outstanding son of the Kyrgyz people, the hero Kaba uulu Kojomkul, the website of Kyrgyz cinema reported.
The competition will be held from January 22 to March 1, 2018. Applications for the competition are accepted until 5:00 pm of March 1, 2018.
Professional scriptwriters, filmmakers and writers who are citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic can take part in the competition. Proposals from candidates will be considered by an artistic and expert group. The application for participation must be sent to the postal address of the Department of Cinematography at the Ministry of Culture, Information and Tourism of the Kyrgyz Republic.
Kojomkul Kaba uulu is a Kyrgyz strongman, a hero. According to legend, the hero bore a horse on his shoulders for a distance of 100 m. On the eastern outskirts of the village, Kojomkul’s mother was buried, on the grave of which he planted a huge stone weighing 160 kg. This stone he brought on his shoulders from the floodplain of the river, the distance between the grave and the river is several kilometers.
In honor of Kojomkul, the village where he was born is bearing his name. A museum is opened, where one can see huge stones, which, according to local residents, he raised on his shoulders. The name of Kojomkul is given to the Sports Palace in Bishkek. Next to the Sport Palace there is a monument to the hero with a horse on his shoulders.
