Competitions in archery and training hunting birds in Kyrchyn

Bishkek, Sept. 04, 2018. /Kabar/. Competitions in traditional archery and training hunting birds took place today on Kyrchyn gorge within the Third World Nomad Games.

Among the participants of the competitions are 153 guests from 32 countries. 43 of them are women, others are men.

In accordance with the rules, Olympic bows, bows with an aiming device, crossbows, as well as use of arrows made of carbonic and synthetic materials are not allowed in the traditional archery competitions. Bows and arrows are required to be made only of organic materials. The competitions are held following the rules of the Salburun Federation of Kyrgyzstan.

Berkutchi (eagle hunters) test hunting birds to see their ability in traditional hunting. The birds include golden eagles and falcons. The bird is supposed to catch its prey on the fly or fly back to its owner – berkutchi.
