Concept of Forestry until 2040 and 5-year action plan presented in Bishkek

Bishkek, Dec. 17, 2018. /Kabar/. A presentation of the draft Concept of Forestry Development for the Period up to 2040 and the National Action Plan for the next five years was held at the State Agency for Environmental Protection and Forestry (SAEPF) of the Kyrgyz Republic, the press service of the agency reported.

The concept was developed by the SAEPF with the support of FAO in the framework of technical support for the development of forest policy in Kyrgyzstan and the Action Plan, taking into account the SDG development agenda and climate change issues.

The concept contains goals, objectives and strategic directions for a long-term and medium-term vision, as well as an action plan for the implementation of the Concept for 2019-2023.

The goal of forestry development until 2040 is sustainable forest management to ensure the economic welfare of the people, social well-being, environmental safety and favorable environment for the life of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Only the broad involvement of concerned parties allows to take into account the views of various sides, improve coordination between sectors, strengthen public confidence in public policy and contribute to its successful realization.

Representatives of the SAEPF, ministries and departments of the Kyrgyz Republic, international and non-governmental organizations, academia, and independent experts took part in the discussion.
