Bishkek, Dec. 20, 2018. /Kabar/. Today, December 20, it is exactly 20 years since Kyrgyzstan, the first of the countries in the post-Soviet space, has joined the World Trade Organization. On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of membership of the National Institute for Strategic Studies of the Kyrgyz Republic and the Ministry of Economy, a conference entitled “The 20th Anniversary of the Kyrgyz Republic in the World Trade Organization” was held today, which was timed to this significant date.
During the conference, the results of the membership of the republic in the WTO, the analysis of positive and negative consequences were discussed, the prospects of Kyrgyzstan in this organization and interfacing with other integration associations were reviewed and determined. In addition, a review of the current status and new opportunities within the multi-level international trading system was conducted.
The conference was attended by deputies of the Kyrgyz Parliament, Minister of Economy of the Kyrgyz Republic Pankratov, Director of the National Institute for Strategic Studies Shadybekov, ex-Ministers of Economy Koichumanov, Kozhoshev, as well as representatives of business, the expert community and academia.
