Bishkek, Dec. 25, 2018. /Kabar/. A conference in memory of Chyngyz Aitmatov was held in the Turkish city of Kayseri, a representative of the Kyrgyz Republic at TURKSOY Kojogeldi Kultegin told.
The conference on “The Great Writer of the Turkic World Chyngyz Aitmatov” had been organized by Erciyes University in Kayseri, the Turkish Literature Foundation, TURKSOY and the New Horizon public organization.
At the opening ceremony, Dean of the Faculty of Turkish Language and Literature at Erciyes University in Kayseri, Prof. Dr. Hülya Argunşah, Chairman of the Turkish Literature Foundation, Prof. Dr. Serhat Kabaklı, representative of Kazakhstan at TURKSOY, Associate Prof. Dr. Askar Turganbayev, Head of the New Horizon, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Argunşah.
“Every day of the year is Chyngyz Aitmatov's birthday. So you can say about the great writer and pride of the Turkic world. So, Aitmatov can be honored any day by organizing such a meeting. Therefore, this does not mean that the city of Kayseri honors the memory of Aitmatov several days late from his birthday on December 12,” Dean of the Faculty of Turkish Language and Literature, Prof. Dr. Hülya Argunşah stated in her speech.
The participants of the celebration listened with great interests to and applauded the monologues of Aimatov's characters, which were performed by Kyrgyz students of this university.
Peculiarities of Chyngyz Aitmatov’s legacy were covered in the reports by son of the writer, former Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Askar Aitmatov, Professor at Kastamonu University Orhan Söylemez, Kyrgyz representative at TÜRKSOY, Kyrgyz national poet Kojogeldi Kultegin and Turkish writer İmdat Avşar.
The celebration, which lasted for three hours, was attended not only by teachers and students of the university, but also by residents of the city of Kayseri.
