Bishkek, Dec.18, 2019. /Kabar/. Heads of Batken Oblast (Kyrgyzstan) and Sughd Region (Tajikistan) will meet in connection with the conflict at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, Batken Oblast Governor Akram Madumarov told Kabar.

"Today I will meet with my counterpart from Sughd Region. We will discuss the current situation and try to find solutions as soon as possible," the governor said.

Akram Madumarov added the fence erected by the Tajik side in the undescribed area, according to the agreements, is being demolished.

"More than half of the fence has already been demolished," he said, adding at the moment the situation at the border is stable.

Note that on Dec. 16, the conflict between residents of Kok-Tash village of Batken region and the local population of Tajikistan began. The reason for this was the construction of a fence by the Tajik side on the section of the border that was not agreed upon.

Today, the conflict occurred again, as a result of which one serviceman and one civilian of Kyrgyzstan received a gunshot wound. In addition, four other people were injured.
