Bishkek, March 13, 2019. / Kabar /. The conflict between the residents on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is localized, the State Border Service of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
On March 13, 2019 a conflict occurred between the residents of the village of Aksai, Batken region of Kyrgyzstan and the village of Mekhnabad, Tajikistan. The cause of the conflict was the construction of the Aksai-Tamdyk bypass road. About 70 Tajiks and 50 Kyrgyz began throwing stones at each other during the conflict.
Kyrgyz and Tajik border guards arrived at the scene and localized the conflict.
Further, the citizens of Kyrgyzstan blocked the road to Aksai village, and the citizens of Tajikistan closed the road to Tort-Kocho.
Currently, the situation at the scene of the conflict is under the control of the border guards of the two countries.
An explanatory work is being carried out with the population of the border areas.
The border representative of Kyrgyzstan in Batken direction held a meeting with the deputy border representative of Tajikistan on Isfara direction. During the meeting, the sides agreed to stabilize the situation on the state border.
