Conflict in Solton-Sary: Kyrgyz Vice PM to meet with local residents

First Vice Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Kubatbek Boronov and Minister of Internal Affairs Kashkar Dzhunushaliev left for Naryn Oblast, where they intend to meet with residents of neighboring villages who are in favor of ending the activities of a foreign mining company at the Solton-Sary gold ore deposit, the Kyrgyz government’s press service reported.

During a meeting with local residents, First Vice Prime Minister Kubatbek Boronov will listen to all the arguments of both sides of the conflict and determine ways to resolve the situation.

The conflict in Solton-Sary pasture took place on Aug. 5. A large group of residents of villages located near Salton-Sary, went to the office building of the Chinese company Zhong Ji Mining, developing a gold ore deposit. Having met, local residents and workers' companies began to throw stones at each other.

As a result, about 20 people hospitalized to local hospital, the Helath Ministry said.

Earlier local residents demanded to stop the activities of Zhong Ji Mining Company, as they said cattle die in the mountains due to explosive work.
