Bishkek, Dec.16, 2019. /Kabar/. Verbal argument between citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan occurred at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, Kabar has learnt from the press service of the State Border Service.
Today, Dec. 16, in the area of the village of Kok-Tash, Batken Oblast, citizens of Tajikistan began setting up a fence near a conventional boundary of the state border.
Kyrgyz citizens expressed dissatisfaction with the work. There was a verbal argument between the citizens of the two countries.
The border squad of the Kyrgyz Republic arrived at the site of the conflict, and demanded Tajik citizens to stop working on the undescribed sections of the state border. However, they refused to meet the demands of the border guards.
Currently, a meeting of border representatives of the two countries is being held with the participation of governor of Batken Oblast (Kyrgyzstan) and deputy governor of Sughd Region (Tajikistan).
At the meeting, the Kyrgyz side demands to stop any work on the undescribed sections of the state border until the determination of the state border line by the intergovernmental commission on delimitation and demarcation of the border.
The situation at the Kyrgyz-Tajik border is under the special control of the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic, and the local authorities of the two countries are working to raise public awareness in order to ease tensions in the border areas.
On Sept. 16 this year, a border incident with the use of weapons occurred at the Kyrgyz-Tajik section of the state border, the Tajik side was the first to use weapons, firing at the Kyrgyz border post Maksat from group weapons, and then the temporary Sai border post in Leilek region of Batken Oblast.
As a result of the conflict on the Kyrgyz-Tajik border, in total 14 people injured, including one soldier died on the spot.
