Congratulations of President Zhaparov on Day of Older Persons

Bishkek, Oct. 1, 2024. /Kabar/. Today, Oct. 1 President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov congratulated Kyrgyzstanis on the Day of Older Persons, his press service said.

In his congratulatory message the Kyrgyz leader noted that the Kyrgyz people have a tradition of honoring and respecting elders since ancient times and has been preserved to this day.

“We understand that taking care of the older generation is our duty and honor. We will do our best to preserve the values handed down by our ancestors and to respect our elders.

Our state policy towards the elderly is implemented in accordance with ratified international agreements on the realization of human rights, laws based on our Constitution,” Zhaparov emphasized.

He also stressed that main goal of the state is to ensure a decent life for representatives of the older generation in a safe and dignified society and their full participation in the development of the state. In this direction, as well as taking into account the basic principles and norms in the field of active ageing, in order to improve the living conditions of the elderly in Kyrgyzstan, the direction of active longevity policy is gaining momentum.

“Over the past three years, efforts to provide our grandparents with a decent pension have increased significantly. For example, in 2022 pensions increased by an average of 33%, in 2023 the insurance part of pensions reached KGS 30 thousand, and pensions increased by 38%. In 2024, I have set the task to increase pensions in two stages. Based on this decision, pensions were increased to the full basic part of the pension from July 1 of this year.

As a result of such efforts and reforms, for the first time in the history of independent Kyrgyzstan, we have managed to fulfill the norms of Article 44 of the Constitution of the Kyrgyz Republic. The State continues to work tirelessly to ensure a decent, stable and prosperous life for elderly citizens,” the Kyrgyz leader said.

President Zhaparov thanked older persons for the contribution they have made to the development of the country and the bright future of the next generations. He also wished them long life and prosperity.
