Bishkek, April 7, 2022 . / Kabar / . Permeated Representative of Kyrgyzstan to the United Nations in New York Aida Kasymalieva met with Collen Vixen Kelapile, the President of the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
The UN ECOSOC, along with the General Assembly and the Security Council, is also one of the UN statutory bodies.
During the meeting, the ECOSOS chairman congratulated Kyrgyzstan and the people on the conclusion of a settlement agreement between the Kyrgyz Republic and Centerra Gold Inc. on the Kumtor mine and the settlement of the issue within the norms of international law.
He noted the importance of resolving the dispute peacefully to ensure a favorable investment climate, as well as to further achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
Kelapile also expressed readiness to further assist Kyrgyzstan within the mandate of the UN Economic and Social Council.
