Consequences of Russia's disconnection from SWIFT will be minimal for Kyrgyzstan: National Bank

Bishkek, Feb. 28, 2022. / Kabar /. The consequences of Russia's disconnection from SWIFT will be minimal for Kyrgyzstan, spokesperson of the National Bank of Kyrgyzstan Aida Karabaeva said during a briefing on Monday.

"At the moment, most commercial banks are connected to the SWIFT system through the National Bank, as well as directly, and we believe that the impact of Russia's disconnection from the international banking system will be minimal for our market. This will not lead to freezing of payments of our citizens through banks in Kyrgyzstan,” she noted.

Karabaeva added that the national payment systems of the Kyrgyz Republic and money transfer systems are functioning normally.

The representative noted that as of Feb. 26, the reserves of the Bank amounted to $ 2 billion 768 million.
