Bishkek, Dec. 11, 2020. /Kabar/. The Constitutional Counsel (CC) has completed the first stage of work on the draft of the new Constitution, Chairman of the Counsel Bekbosun Borubashev said during a briefing on Friday.
According to him, the first stage of discussion of the Constitutional Counsel is being completed.
"Now we are creating two expert groups. One has lawyers, the second includes linguists, so that they will properly formulate the document. We will finalize the basic law,” the chairman said.
According to CC member Bolot Toktomushev, there may be many omissions and shortcomings in the work of the expert groups, but these issues will be considered and corrected by lawyers.
"The experts will review again and pass on to the linguists. Because it's a general draft text,” the member noted.
In turn, Nurlan Sheripov said the Constitutional Counsel hopes that this draft Constitution will meet all requirements of international conventions. In the new draft the rights of children and women are protected. There are also a lot of good norms on the protection of personal data, on freedom of speech, on the prohibition of censorship, on pensions and benefits.
"A lot of good progressive and democratic norms are included also," the expert said.
