Construction of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 to begin in 2025

Bishkek, Aug. 21, 2024 /Kabar/. Member of the Kyrgyz Parliament K. Suleimanov and Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibrayev visited Electric Stations OJSC in the city of Kara-Kul, Jalal-Abad Region.

As part of the working visit, they inspected the progress of preparatory work for the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP and held an off-site meeting with relevant managers.

During the visit, they were provided with information on the process of road construction and concreting, bridge construction, tunnel boring, 110 kV overhead power line and 110/6 kV substation, as well as the construction of a temporary camp for workers.

The project managers reported that the remaining part of the tunnel will be completed by August 31. The minister of energy instructed to complete all preparatory work on time, in accordance with the schedule, in order to ensure the timely start of the construction of the hydro power station.

"I personally checked the preparatory work for the construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 hydro power station. Most of it has already been completed. According to our plan, the construction of the hydroelectric power station should begin in 2025. Therefore, all preparatory work this year must be completed 100% in accordance with the schedule. When the cold weather comes and the ground freezes, it will become more difficult to work, and the pace will slow down. The main work must be completed before winter," said minister Ibrayev.

In addition, the minister of energy inspected the progress of the reconstruction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 substation. Work is currently underway to dismantle old equipment and install new equipment.

Completion of construction is scheduled for August 31, 2024, and the facility is expected to be commissioned in September.
