Bishkek, Feb. 15, 2022. / Kabar /. The construction of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1 will begin on April 1 this year, . Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Akylbek Zhaparov told during a press conference.
He said that the capacity of Kambar-Ata HPP-1 will be 1,860 MW.
“On the instructions of President Sadyr Zhaparov, we will begin the first stage of the construction of the hydroelectric power station. Preliminarily, about USD 18.8 million is needed to create the first infrastructure. Funds for construction are provided in the republican budget. Currently, the Ministry of Finance is carrying out relevant work in this direction,” he said.
In addition, the head of the Cabinet added that the construction of the installation of the second hydroelectric unit at the Kambar-Ata HPP-2 is scheduled for the end of this year or early 2023. The HPP's capacity will be 250 MW.
The first 120 MW hydroelectric unit at Kambar-Ata HPP-2 was put into operation in 2010.
