Construction of new sanitary landfill starts in Kyrgyz capital

Bishkek, July 27, 2021 . / Kabar / . Acting Mayor of Bishkek Baktybek Kudaibergenov said at a press conference on Tuesday that the "Improvement of Bishkek solid waste management system" project has been implemented in the capital not for the first time.

"The construction of a new sanitary landfill has already begun today. Also, work has begun anew on the closure and reclamation of the old landfill. In addition, with regard to the construction of a waste processing plant, we have sent a request to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for approval of a one-stage tender and development of a new tender offer," the acting mayor added.

The "Improvement of Bishkek solid waste management system of Bishkek" project is funded by a loan from the EBRD bank and EU grants, the amount of investment is EUR 22 million, including a loan of EUR 11 million, and grants in the total amount of EUR 11 million.
