Bishkek, June 12, 2020 / Kabar /. Chinese contractors of 139 people arrived in Kyrgyzstan to continue the construction of an alternative North-South highway, the press service of the Ministry of Transport of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.
All the specialists from China received the results of COVID-19 analysis in China, and also passed sanitary control and gave additional PCR analysis at Manas Airport. Upon arrival, experts from China were sent to isolated construction camps for an observation.
In order to inform the public and local authorities about the arriving specialists and the control algorithm for detecting coronavirus in the areas of construction, experts of the Ministry of Transport visited construction areas.
Upon arrival at the sites, after the observation, specialists from China will continue road construction work on laying asphalt concrete pavement, tunneling and construction of flyover bridges.
The construction of an alternative North-South highway has begun in 2014. This road will improve access to the developed Kara-Keche coal deposit, the Makmal gold mine, as well as to the sections of the Kambar-Ata and Toguz-Toruz HPPs.
In 2020, in two phases, it is planned to lay more than 22 km of asphalt pavement and 500 meters of tunneling.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, quarantined measures and the closure of international borders, most employees of China Road and Bridge Corp. failed to get into the Kyrgyz Republic with a further stay at the project sites, which actually stopped all construction work.
In order to continue road construction work on strategic sections of the North-South road between Kyrgyzstan and China, all issues were resolved to obtain the necessary permits for the entry of foreign personnel of the general contractor to the construction site.
