"Construction of the China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan railway should become a flagship project within the framework of the One Belt - One Road initiative," Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov said during “Central Asia-PRC” Online Summit to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
The head of state noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping's "One Belt, One Road" foreign policy initiative is undoubtedly one of the most significant and important international infrastructure projects of our time.
Zhaparov reminded that Kyrgyzstan was one of the first to support it, which is also due to the historical background and is in the spirit of strategic partnership.
The president expressed confidence that the further successful implementation of the initiative will contribute to deepening and expanding the economic partnership, improving infrastructure and cultural interaction in Central Asia.
The Kyrgyz leader emphasized that the construction of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway should become a flagship project within the framework of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative and a significant step towards the full development of local communications potential.
Zhaparov expressed his opinion that the improvement of the transport system will attract additional volumes of international transit traffic and will also contribute to a significant increase in trade turnover between China and Central Asian states.
He noted the need to continue to work on improving the efficiency of "green corridors" for unimpeded imports and exports, including equipment and machinery for socially important facilities and economic projects.
