Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the People's Republic of China (PRC) Kanaiym Baktygulova made a speech at the high-level forum on "Strengthening international agricultural cooperation for the development of modern agriculture.”
In her speech, the ambassador emphasized the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic continues to improve the existing preferential policy for the development of agriculture in the regions of the country, the press service of Kyrgyzstan’s Foreign Ministry reported.
“Chinese investors need to take advantage of these favorable conditions created by the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic to launch joint Kyrgyz-Chinese projects in the field of agriculture and promote the export of ecologically clean agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan to China,” Baktygulova said.
In addition, Baktygulova also took part in the 27th Yangling Agricultural Hi-Tech Achievements Exhibition.
“At the Yangling Exhibition, which will last until Oct. 26, 2020, Chinese and foreign achievements of new high technologies in agriculture, as well as samples of agricultural products from China and foreign countries were presented. The pavilion of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was organized at the exhibition, where agricultural products from Kyrgyzstan were also presented,” the report said.
Besides, the Foreign Ministry said that on the same day the Kyrgyz ambassador met with governor of Shaanxi Province Zhao Yide, during which the sides discussed issues of interregional cooperation, the implementation of joint projects, humanitarian exchange, as well as the establishment of twinning relations between the regions of the two countries.
According to Yuri Kurinsky, the permanent expert of Kabar News Agency, he is glad to see that the agriculture was again given increased attention at the highest level.
“There is an active search for partners for qualitative development of the agricultural sector in the Kyrgyz Republic. If we want to develop, I emphasize, the key sector of economy, it is vital to bring it to new orbits. International cooperation of agricultural companies is one of such vectors of agricultural development. The Chinese direction is one of the most promising. I know firsthand that China needs high-quality, environmentally friendly agricultural products. Kyrgyzstan has always been famous in growing such agricultural products as cereals, legumes, sugar beet, potatoes. Recently, domestic farmers began to grow tomatoes and cucumbers, and every year the quality and yield of this crop is constantly growing. China is interested in these products. This will mean full-scale development of the local community of farmers. The main thing is to always focus on the specifics of action. After this speech (speech of Ambassador Baktygulova at the high-level forum in China – Kabar News Agency) there is need to give an opportunity to stakeholders from China to ascertain on the ground that Kyrgyzstan is a promising partner with huge experience in agriculture.
It is noted that Baktygulova also held meetings with the leadership of the "smart" agricultural exemplary park, a fig plantation, as well as the Shaanxi Automobile Corporation "Fast Group" and the Shaanxi Construction Engineering Corporation.
But here is what attention need to be paid. Opening the prospects of cooperation with any party it is necessary to voice a number of existing problems, so that no disappointment will arise later. In Kyrgyzstan, they exist. It is thought that China can help to solve them.
Expert Kurinsky also echoes that: "At the same time, there is need to bring to the Chinese side the problems we have in agriculture. We want this industry to be a guarantee of prosperity for a very long time, so we need to unite in solving some important problems. The main problem that exists at the moment is that most of the sown areas need the so-called rehabilitation. Meanwhile, the whole drainage system is neglected, and nobody has paid serious attention to it for the last 20 years. Therefore, what we need to pay attention to is, first of all, rehabilitation works. There are enough lands in Kyrgyzstan that have already been developed and are suitable for cultivation. But there is also the prospect of developing new areas. First of all, it is necessary to carry out a precise analysis of those areas, which are planned for development. Otherwise, the funds will be wasted".
Agriculture issue is being tackled. It can be concluded that in the near future Kyrgyzstan will again be at the forefront of the agricultural sector among the CIS countries. The republic has colossal experience in agriculture. It only needs to be revived and stimulated.
In the recent past, the agricultural industry in Kyrgyzstan was advanced, because collective farming implied a rational satisfaction of the market with agricultural products. Crop rotation was observed, which improved soil fertility and, accordingly, increased crop yields. A sufficient number of seed farms were available, as well as breeding stations that performed various soil tests at the laboratory level and worked on the evolution of seed material.
