Bishkek, Nov. 12, 2021 / Kabar /. Following the results of the Summit in Istanbul, the leaders of the countries of the Turkic Council decided to rename the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking States into the Organization of Turkic States.
The decision was made in order to enhance the status of the Organization, as well as taking into account the progress made by the Turkic Council since its formation.
Thus, the heads of state of the Turkic Council emphasize their commitment to enhancing the role of the Organization in ensuring coordinated actions in a multilateral format between its member states and further promoting their interests in the regional and international arena.
The new name is expected to have a positive impact on strengthening the Organization's position in the international arena and will stimulate the expansion of its scope.
The Turkic Council was formed in 2009 to promote cooperation among Turkic-speaking states. It consists of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan as member countries and Hungary as an observer state.
