Cooperation in field of digitalization discussed between Kyrgyzstan, South Korea

Bishkek, March 4, 2022 . / Kabar /. Minister of Digital Development of Kyrgyzstan Talantbek Imanov met with Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Kyrgyzstan Lee Won-jae.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of cooperation in the field of digitalization between the Republic of Korea and Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the Ministry of Digital Development reported.

The Korean side raised issues of cooperation with Korean companies, in particular with KT Corporation, which in order to enhance and promote bilateral cooperation opened a representative office in the Kyrgyz Republic in December last year.

The Korean ambassador also informed that a visit of the leadership of the Korean company KOMSCO to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Digital Development is planned in early April 2022.

Lee Won-jae was informed about the work with KOMSCO within the framework of the current passport project - the company is supplying blanks of eID card-passport of a citizen of the KR of the 2017 sample.

The project to introduce biometric passports (eID-card) was implemented in close cooperation with the Agency for International Cooperation of Korea - KOICA. In the beginning, the Agency provided 1.9 million forms free of charge in the form of a grant.

In addition, Minister Imanov voiced a request to assist in the study and implementation of some projects on digitalization.

The sides noted the importance of building human capital - increasing digital skills and training of IT project managers.
