Bishkek, Feb. 9, 2021. / Kabar /. In Kyrgyzstan, 13 children in serious condition have been hospitalized with post-COVID multisystem inflammatory syndrome, head of the cardio-rheumatology department of the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare of the Kyrgyz Republic Guli Saatova told Kabar News Agency.
According to her, this syndrome is not genetically similar to Kawasaki-like syndrome and is more severe.
Saatova explained there are 15 more children with Kawasaki-like syndrome caused by coronavirus.
"The fact is that any virus can contribute its own characteristics of disease. Coronavirus caused some manifestations of Kawasaki-like syndrome," she noted.
Saatova added these data will be transmitted to the WHO global platform.
The doctor noted children between the ages of 2.5 and 17 years old were admitted in total, with an average age of 5.5 years
"This condition is amenable to effective treatment. No one fatal cases was recorded. Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been one or two cases. However, there hasn't been such an inflow as in these two weeks," she said and added the geography of children's admissions is different: Bishkek, Talas and the south of the country.
"There is one peculiarity - the coronavirus was asymptomatic in them," she said.
Director of the National Center for Maternal and Child Welfare Kamchybek Uzakbayev said the condition of two of the children admitted was serious, but stabilized afterward.
