Since the beginning of the year, a total of 945 deaths from COVID-19 have been registered in Kyrgyzstan, of which 13% (121) of citizens had hepatitis, Sultan Turusbekov, an epidemiologist at the Department of Disease Prevention and State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health and Social Development told during a briefing Monday.
According to him, coronavirus infection is most dangerous for people with hepatitis B or C, as coronavirus causes severe complications on the liver and leads to exacerbation of related diseases.
Meanwhile, the nationwide death toll of Kyrgyzstan from the virus has reached 2,444 on Aug. 2.
