Bishkek, Jan.22, 2020. /Kabar/. There is a risk that coronavirus, which broke out in China, will reach Kyrgyzstan, specialists of the country’s Center for State Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance said.

According to the Center’s data, coronavirus infection is an acute viral disease of the respiratory tract, which is manifested by many symptoms - from inflammation of the mucous membranes of the respiratory tract to severe acute respiratory syndrome, occurring in the form of SARS with high lethality. Incubation period in case of infection with coronavirus is from 2 to 7 days (maximum - 10).

The main danger is that the symptoms are similar to those of influenza virus and respiratory diseases. There are also similar routes of transmission, airborne droplet and household contact.

At present, 440 cases of coronavirus infection have been registered in China, of which 9 are fatal.

"Due to the large flow of tourists and migrants between China and Kyrgyzstan, there is a risk of coronavirus infection entering the country," the report says.

"For timely response, epidemiologists and virological laboratory are on high alert and work in close cooperation with national organizations and WHO. The Virology Laboratory in Bishkek is accredited by international standards, and test systems for rapid determination of coronavirus RNA by molecular genetic method have been ordered for research," the report says.
