Council for Disability of Persons formed in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, May 20, 2020 / Kabar/. Kyrgyzstan formed the Council for Persons with Disabilities was formed under the Government of the country. The corresponding decision was signed by Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic Mukhammedkalyi Abylgaziev, the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers reported.

This decision was made in order to ensure the interaction of state bodies, local governments, public associations, scientific and other organizations when considering issues related to the social protection of persons with disabilities.

The Council will be a permanent collegial deliberative body on issues related to resolving the problems of persons with disabilities in the Kyrgyz Republic, developing proposals for creating an effective state policy in the field of supporting people with disabilities, developing measures for the prevention and rehabilitation of persons with disabilities and promoting the implementation of legislation in this area.

Earlier, as part of the 66th session of the UN General Assembly on September 21, 2011 in New York, the Kyrgyz Republic joined the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

On March 13, 2019, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sooronbay Jeenbekov signed the Law on the Ratification of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, adopted by the UN General Assembly on December 13, 2006 and signed on September 21, 2011.
