Kyrgyzstan preparing to pay compensation to medical workers infected with COVID-19

Bishkek, July 21, 2020. /Kabar/. During a news briefing at the Government House, Head of the Public Health Department of Kyrgyzstan’s Health Ministry Ainura Akmatova said when a work on paying compensation to medical workers contracted the COVID-19 coronavirus infection at work will begin.

Payment of compensation of KGS 200,000 (about USD 2,580) to 40 medical workers is under consideration. The list has been received from all regions of the country.

"But to pay this compensation, it turns out that an epidemiological report must be prepared separately for each health worker. Now instruction were given to regions to prepare such a report. Further, a commission will consider and work on the issue of monetary compensation will begin soon,” Akmatova added.

As of today in Kyrgyzstan, the total number of medical workers diagnosed with COVID-19 has climbed to 2,428, of which 624 were discharged from hospitals with recovery.

28,251 COVID-19 cases were registered in the country so far. Of these, 14,776 people have recovered. Death toll has reached 1,079.
