Coverage of vaccination of children against tuberculosis reached over 90% in Kyrgyzstan

Bishkek, June 1, 2022 ./Kabar/. Last year, the coverage of vaccinated children against tuberculosis and pertussis in Kyrgyzstan was more than 94%, the National Statistical Committee of the republic said Wednesday.

In order to reduce the incidence of infectious diseases in the country, preventive vaccinations are carried out.

Thus, in 2021, the percentage coverage of children under one year of age with vaccinations against tuberculosis amounted to 99.4%, against whooping cough, diphtheria and tetanus - 90.7%, measles, mumps and rubella - 94.4%.

According to the vaccination calendar, approved by order of the Kyrgyz Ministry of Health in March 2022, children are vaccinated against viral hepatitis B within 24 hours after birth, during their stay in the hospital - vaccination against tuberculosis is carried out.

At 2 months of age, the first vaccinations are given against pertussis, diphtheria, tetanus, Haemophilus influenzae and viral hepatitis B, as well as against pneumococcal infection, against polio and against rotavirus infection. Repeated vaccinations against the mentioned diseases are given at 3.5 and 5 months of age.

Infants are vaccinated against polio at 9 months of age.

At 12 months of age, a vaccination is given against measles, mumps and rubella, as well as against pneumococcal infection.
