Bishkek, Jan. 29, 2021. /Kabar/. More than 40,000 people died in Kyrgyzstan in 2020, the State Registration Service (SRS) of the republic said on Friday.
The Registration Service registers acts of civil status: births, deaths, marriage and divorce, paternity, adoption, and name changes.
Thus, in 2016, 159 thousand 584 newborns were registered in Kyrgyzstan.
In 2017 - 155 thousand 036 babies.
In 2018 - 172 thousand 663 babies.
In 2019 – 173 thousand 601 babies.
In 2020 - 158 thousand 174 babies.
Thus, the highest number of newborns in five years was recorded in 2019 - 173 thousand 601, the lowest in 2017 - 155 thousand 36.
Following are data on mortality:
33 thousand 545 deaths were recorded in Kyrgyzstan in 2016, 33 thousand 143 –in 2017, 33 thousand 10 in 2018, 33 thousand 317 on 2019, and 40 thousand 1 in 2020.
"Mortality peaks in 2020 was caused by coronavirus infection,” the State Registration Service reported.
