As it is known, due to the spread of coronavirus infection in a number of countries, all activities that were planned for the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War were canceled.
The Victory Day of the Soviet Union over fascist Germany in the Great Patriotic War was and remains one of the most revered holidays in the entire post-Soviet space. There is practically no family for which this date does not matter. Earlier, in the May days that precede the holiday itself, volunteers in different CIS countries distributed St. George ribbons, which, according to tradition, became a symbol of the connection of generations and the memory of the Great Victory. Also, on this day, ceremonies of laying flowers and wreaths at the monuments to the heroes of the Great Patriotic War have been held everywhere, various events, holiday concerts, courage lessons at educational institutions have been held to honor war veterans and rear front workers and much more.
This year, due to the global COVID-19 attack, all of the above cannot be held. Consciousness should be switched to preserving the health of the population of many countries. And this is also a kind of test that befell the inhabitants of the planet many years after the tragic events of 1941-1945.
Another glorious tradition of recent years was the Immortal Regiment action. Every year, on Victory Day, its participants marched along city streets with photographs of their relatives — veterans of the army and navy, partisans, underground fighters, resistance fighters, home front workers, prisoners of concentration camps, blockades, and children of the war.
In 2020, Kyrgyzstan, along with the countries of the world, celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, which was the largest in the history of mankind in its scale, destruction and human casualties. The Great Patriotic War lasted 1418 days and nights. This tragedy passed through every family and heart of every citizen of the former USSR, including Kyrgyz citizens.
In these difficult years, soldiers, home front workers and ordinary citizens with their heroism brought the Great Victory closer.
It is very important to continue the campaign “Immortal Regiment” on the anniversary date of the Victory, which is designed to preserve the memory of the heroism of our ancestors in the Great Patriotic War.
In order to protect the health of citizens, in connection with the spread of coronavirus infection, a decision was made to hold the Immortal Regiment campaign this year in an online format.
As for the regions of Kyrgyzstan, the celebration of the Victory Day was also canceled there, but this does not mean that the memory of those sacred years has been lost. There is a slogan “Nobody is forgotten, nothing is forgotten”, which carries the main idea for future generations. It is important for everyone these days to remember those who did not return from the front.
Head of the Chat-Kol village council of Chui oblast Ulan Aisayev noted, “This holiday is sacred for absolutely everyone living in the post-Soviet space. No one should forget what all peoples experienced, what irreparable losses they suffered. And, for all that, national heroism, solidarity, unwillingness to be enslaved by the people, took up the terrible fascist machine. We believe that it is important to keep a memory of what happened in those terrible years. Despite the fact that all planned activities due to coronavirus infection have been canceled, everyone on that day will remember and discuss in the family the events of the Great Patriotic War and the invaluable role of the Soviet people, thanks to which we can now see a peaceful sky above us. The whole world is faced a new threat, but the spirit of our peoples has been tested more than once. I believe that we can overcome this crisis also with victory.”
In connection with the circumstances that, without exception, faced everybody on this significant day, it is important to remind the children about those who forged a victory for the better life of the next generations. It should be noted that in the village of Chat-Kol the people are very sensitive to the traditions of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War, and in the secondary school and in the kindergarten of the village lessons on patriotic education of children are held on an ongoing basis. With such an attitude, we hardly need to fear for the fact that our children will be able to forget about the holy date.
Antonina Fadina, head of the Kolosok kindergarten of Chat-Kol village said that a big attention is paid to the patriotic education of children in their kindergarten. “We understand that without this it is impossible to educate respected and respectful people who will later become worthy citizens of our country. Therefore, we believe that such a pedagogical approach is the most correct,” she said.
Head of the village council Aisayev has a similar attitude, “we will continue to give the proper education to our children, who have always demonstrated how important this holiday is for representatives of any generation. Every year there are fewer and fewer witnesses of that terrible war, and we must preserve this sacred tradition for all of us, the memory of those, thanks to whom we live. Kyrgyzstan made a huge contribution to the Great Victory. In particular, more than 300 of our villagers at one time went to the front to defend one large homeland. Someone returned and continued his heroic deeds in labor, in the construction and restoration of infrastructure facilities. But many families did not wait for their grandfathers, fathers, brothers, sons. Order-bearers, heroes of the Soviet Union lived in our village. After the war, with their dedicated work, they reached already great heights in the national economy. Their upbringing, their mentality should be real and the most living example for the younger generation.”
The Great Victory for all of us must be immortalized in memory. We must be sensitive to traditions, to ensure that the exploits of our grandfathers are not forgotten. It was heroism and unifying power that became the key to victory over the inexorable and cruel adversary. We should continue to bring this message to the younger generation, so that they know and remember thanks to whom we can enjoy a peaceful life. The memory of those terrible events should never be forgotten.
