Bishkek, July 27, 2020. /Kabar/. Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic, KGS 475 million have been allocated to health organizations to purchase personal protective equipment (PPE) instead of other expenses and medicines, Deputy Chairman of the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund (MHIF) of Kyrgyzstan Akylbek Kalykov told at a briefing.
Kalykov noted that current budget funds allocated for the purchase of medicines were used by health organizations to purchase previously unplanned PPE.
"In connection with the coronavirus pandemic in the country, health organizations used KGS 475 million to purchase PPE instead of other necessary expenses, including medicines," the MHIF deputy head said.
According to Kalykov, as of July 24, the health care organizations has the following leftovers:
- disposable protective suits - 228 thousand 667 pieces,
- reusable protective suits - 26 thousand 053 pieces,
- respirators - 193 thousand 500 pieces,
- disposable masks - 2 million 448 thousand 474 pieces.
