Bishkek, April 16, 2021 . / Kabar / . Quarantine will not be introduced in Kyrgyzstan, Minister of Health and Social Development of the republic Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said Friday at a press conference at Kabar News Agency.
He noted such a decision was made by president jointly with prime minister and the government.
"Last year we imposed quarantine. We have taken a lot of money from donors in the form of loans - $56 million. If not us, then our children have to pay this money. Given this, we have decided not to introduce a quarantine," he said.
The health minister added a number of coronavirus cases increased sharply after the local council elections and constitutional referendum.
"If previously there were 50-60 cases in Bishkek, Chui and Issyk-Kul Oblasts, and in some oblasts there were no cases for two months, now the situation has worsened," Beishenaliev said.
He named not observance of sanitary and epidemiological requirements as the main reason for the worsening epidemic situation.
As of today, Kyrgyzstan's tally of COVID-19 infections has climbed to 91,374. Of these, 86,621 have recovered and 1,544 passed away.
