Bishkek, May 12, 2021. / Kabar / . It was decided not to introduce a strict quarantine due to the epidemiological situation with COVID-19, Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Health and Social Development Alymkadyr Beishenaliev said on the air of the Birinchi Radio.
He added that last year, the tough quarantine for 3 months caused an economic crisis.
"in addition, after the quarantine people massively began to visit public places, due to which there was a surge of disease in May and June 2020. Now we are focusing more on conducting outreach among the population," the minister said.
Beishenaliev noted the capital city of Bishkek is now in the red zone because 12-13 COVID-19 cases per 100 thousand people are identified a day.
"Due to the fact that Bishkek is the center of the country's trade, a growth in number of coronavirus cases is observed in other regions. We urge citizens not to come to the capital to visit their relatives without a special need," the official added.
As of today, Kyrgyzstan’s tally of COVID-19 cases has amounted to 99,316 with 92,409 recoveries and 1,675 fatalities.
