Reconstruction of major hospital in Kyrgyzstan’s Batken Oblast under way

Bishkek, Aug. 12, 2020. /Kabar/. Today, Aug. 12 President Sooronbay Jeenbekov familiarized with core refurbishment of the infectious diseases department of Batken Oblast Hospital, his press service reported.

According to Urmatbek Kokocharov, Drector of the State Agency for Architecture, Construction and Housing and Communal Services, repair and restoration work is carried out to deploy a new 90-bed ward of the hospital.

The works are planned to be completed by the end of August this year.

At present, more than 116 thousand residents of Batken region and Batken town are served by 45-bed infectious diseases department, which is insufficient to meet the needs of the local population.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov talked to the medical staff, spoke in detail about the goals and objectives of the digitalization policy of the country, which in terms of medicine should be aimed primarily at creating the most comfortable conditions for patients. The digitalization will also help replenish the republican budget by withdrawing funds from the shadow turnover and increasing salaries of social workers.

"The Security Council of the Kyrgyz Republic has been working for a year and a half to study problems in the health sector. In the near future, we will consider this issue comprehensively to improve the situation. The pandemic has exposed all the problems of the system," the president stressed.

The head of state expressed his gratitude to the medical workers. He added that the Government is continuing to inspect abandoned buildings in the regions to convert them into modern hospitals.
