Bishkek, Apr. 1, 2020 / Kabar /. In the country, there are about 1 million 800 thousand citizens left without wages, Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Development of the Kyrgyz Republic Aliza Soltonbekova told today at a briefing in the Government House.
The ministry opened a special account under the headquarters for mutual assistance to raise funds for needy citizens, low-income families and people with disabilities.
“In addition, we accept appeals from citizens who need help and who are left without earnings due to state of emergency. 96 thousand families are registered throughout the republic, which are registered by the Ministry of Social Development as poor, but at the moment the number will increase, because many citizens are forced to stay at home. Therefore, families who do not work, sit at home and suffer difficulties, can contact the number 1227,” said Soltonbekova.
She noted that in Bishkek, more than 18 thousand citizens and persons with disabilities have already received assistance in the form of food and protective equipment.
“There are also citizens, families who live in new housing estates and do not have registration. Their number is also being specified. Today, there are 1 thousand 149 families on the list,” she said.
The deputy minister noted that 5 thousand tons of flour were allocated and is currently being delivered to all regions for distribution to the needy, low-income families in the queue and people with disabilities. To date, about 2 thousand bags of flour have already been distributed.
To date 111 cases of COVID-19 infection have been recorded in Kyrgyzstan. Among them - 52 men and 59 women. Three citizens were cured and discharged from hospitals.
A state of emergency has been introduced from March 25 to April 15 in the cities of Bishkek, Osh and Jalal-Abad, Nookat, Kara-Suu and Suzak regions.
